Kaspar Tamkivi: “I feel like I can contribute to moving the industry forward.”

Kaspar Tamkivi is the Head of the Project Sales Department in Azortum, a fairly new role in our team. At the time of interviewing Kaspar, he had been in this new role for about six months. In his daily work, Kaspar is responsible for leading the project sales team, developing new sales processes, and improving the level of project management in the company.
We interviewed him about his career in sales and how he entered the waste management industry.
Leading up to Azortum
The prerequisites for Kaspar's career were laid in school, where his favorite subjects were physics and geography. His hobbies followed the problem-solving theme, as he was fond of chess and learning from the Estonian Encyclopedia.
Hence, this is how he developed an understanding of complex systems and how they fit into local markets, which translates well into his current technical job. He has also earned a degree in business management.
Since then, Kaspar's work has always centered around technical sales. He has worked as a project manager in a shipbuilding company, where he secured a cooperation agreement with a German industry powerhouse. In the real estate sector, he led a marketing department across three Baltic countries.

Although he has gained extensive sales experience across different industries, he is humble in saying there's still much to learn. As a freshman at Azortum, he hopes he is well-equipped and ready to take on waste management.
Kaspar joined Azortum by chance. From the first meeting, the company made a lasting impression on him. The critical factors in his decision were the youthful team, an exciting industry, and a clear commitment to quality. "I feel like I can contribute to moving the industry forward," says Kaspar.
According to Kaspar, Azortum's culture is still evolving, but the team's helpfulness and focus on high-quality work provide a strong foundation for future growth.
At Azortum, Kaspar aims to expand the client base and contribute to its growth, helping Azortum become a leading name in its field. On a professional level, Kaspar aspires to become a top industry leader, something he has aimed for since his youth.
Big things come from teamwork
Kaspar’s work and daily life are guided by clear values: collaboration, discipline, self-motivation, and open communication. He says it's important to keep promises. He also believes that humor is an essential part of any successful team dynamic.
"The greatest achievements are the result of teamwork," he adds.

Achievements, no matter how great or small, should always be celebrated. Kaspar says that recognition is essential, even by noticing small things in somebody's daily work and life. "I try to recognize colleagues and loved ones as much as possible," says Kaspar.
In his everyday work, what motivates him is the opportunity to do things even better and finally see the fruits of his labor.
When asked about his advice to others looking to work in the industry, Kaspar advises just to try it: "This field is relatively new and developing, which gives newcomers many opportunities to propose new leaps forward."
Unwinding after work
To unwind, Kaspar enjoys sports, particularly martial arts. He also loves spending time outdoors with friends and family.
